Mawazine welcomes the soprano of Arabic music

The Mohammed V National Theatre will vibrate with the sound of Majida El Roumi

Rabat, March 26th, 2018: Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and for its 17th edition, The Mawazine Festival Rhythms of the World is offering a stunning program with the biggest names in Arabic music such as the iconic Majida El Roumi.

For this year, the prestigious Lebanese soprano will perform at the Mohammed V National Theatre on Thursday June 28th, for an unforgettable evening.

Considered by music lovers to be the last diva worthy of the name, Majida El Roumi is known for her great success in oriental, romantic and patriotic songs. Advocating for peace, the rebirth and union of the nation, Majida El Roumi sings words of great poets and collaborates with successful composers.

Participating in the biggest events in the world, decorated and rewarded throughout her career, Majida El Roumi is Honorary Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for the fight against famine in the Arab world. In 2013, she was made Officer of Arts and Letters in France.

A graduate in Arabic literature, Majida El Roumi saw her artistic career take off thanks to the acclaimed “Kalimat”, by the great poet Nizar Qabbani, which is to this day an anthem in the Arab world. She offered a multitude of beautiful melodies and exquisite poems magnified by her unique voice. Songs such as «Ib7at 3anni», «Maa Al Jarida», «Koun Sadi9i», «O7ebbok wa ba3d», «E3tazalt El Gharam» and «Saqata Al Qina» are today considered classics.
